About Scott Innes October 9, 1989 - Scott Innes arrived at home in a suburb of Atlanta to find a phone message from a friend in Berlin – “You won’t believe it. People are climbing over the Wall for the first time and you should be here to see this with us.” The very next day Scott was on a plane to Berlin.
Scott grew up in northern California and became a passionate world traveler after his first experience as an exchange student to Holland after high school. He lived with a Dutch family and it changed his life. After returning to the mainland he knew he wanted to experience more of the world. He applied and was accepted into a special training program to become a Cryptologic linguist in the U.S. Air Force. He received his Diploma from the world renowned Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California and eventually moved to Berlin where he worked as an intelligence reporter and linguist in the early 1980s before the Wall fell. His work included intelligence gathering for the Air Force and National Security Agency. The picture on the left is of the former US and British intelligence gathering facility at Tuefelsberg in West Berlin where Scott worked. From his base in Berlin he traveled extensively throughout Europe making lifelong friends with people from different cultures and walks of life. Scott is an excellent listener and has the ability to connect with people on a personal level and understand different points of view. He is well liked and personable.
After the Air Force Scott moved to Georgia where he spent 16 years before settling on Maui. He studied business and marketing at Georgia State University and got his BBA in 1991. He worked full time in mortgage banking while attending college. His experience in mortgage banking includes positions as a loan officer, quality control specialist, and closing clerk in retail and wholesale lending. Scott spent 14 years in the travel industry in sales and marketing for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Globus & Cosmos, American Hawaii Cruises, Crystal Cruises and Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. Working in the travel industry was exciting and afforded him the opportunity to travel extensively and make friends with people from all over the globe. One of his most memorable experiences was being at the Berlin Wall the day after it fell in 1989. He shared the experience with west Berliners and friends as they greeted family crossing the border into West Berlin for the first time. It was an experience he will never forget.
Scott has held positions as Regional Sales Manager and web consultant for luxury cruise line – Crystal Cruises. Crystal Cruises represents the best in travel, both in the travel experience and in unique world-wide destinations. The Crystal attitude captures the sprit of excellence and classic service which has became a part of who Scott is and how he communicates with people. Scott’s goal is to make every client feel special and at ease. His clients and friends describe him as authentic, warm, and refined. He listens well and is meticulous with the details. Scott’s return to real estate began after the tragic events of September 11, 2001 and its affect on the travel industry. He found his new passion and enjoys living on Maui helping people find their dream homes and working with sellers marketing their properties. His extensive sales and marketing background and affiliation with Sotheby's International Realty gives his clients a distinct advantage. Scott is a successful marketer of luxury properties and is an excellent negotiator. He specializes in Wailea and Upcountry Maui real estate and handles all types of Hawaii real estate transactions. Scott works out of Island Sotheby’s International Realty Wailea office.
